The SWIFT Community Project was formed to provide a fully accessible community room for the use of all local residents and organisations. Existing facilities in Weston Turville are already heavily booked and the construction of thousands of new homes will make this situation more difficult as the population rises. Accessible toilets will include baby-changing facilities and we will be able to cater for families with very young children, the elderly and disadvantaged, the lonely, groups meeting for social activities, or for care and advice sessions, eg medical, technical, hobbies, etc. The room will be able to seat up to 30 people and facilities will exist for serving light refreshments. We await more expressions of interest from local groups, we already have several.
We need your help to raise the capital to build the room, which will be attached to the Church of St Mary the Virgin, Weston Turville so that mutual sharing of facilities will be available. Once built, we do not expect to need additional funding for day-to-day costs. All funds raised for SWIFT will be ring-fenced for the purpose of providing these facilities plus any future capital works authorised after the completion of this project.
Please join the Vale Lottery today and name SWIFT as your selected cause for the construction of this much-needed community facility. Tickets cost only £1 each and 50% of all ticket money will go to your selected cause (SWIFT) and a further 10% to the Vale Community Fund. You will have the chance of winning up to £25.000 in the weekly draw whilst helping to raise the money for this important project and for the Vale Community Fund.
How much do we need? We have, so far, raised £303,000 and need a further £47,000 to be able to start construction early next year. Your help through the Vale Lottery will contribute towards this and please, if you feel able to support us further, you can Google "www.goldengiving.com/wall/swift" or contact me for other methods of donating or helping.
Thank you for your support and good luck!
