For over 50 years, Chilterns Dog Rescue Society have been caring for and rehoming abandoned dogs, many with tragic pasts and uncertain futures, by taking them in and finding them loving homes. Since they opened in 1963, the Society has rescued and rehomed over 20,000 dogs, as well as permanently caring for dogs whose owners are currently unable to care for their pets for various reasons.
As we have grown, we continue to take more and more dogs into our care; moving into their purpose-built rescue centre in 2017. We make the rescue dogs our full priority, refusing to put down any animal unless for extreme medical conditions or untreatable behavioural issues. When we rehome dogs, we ensure that alongside matching up owners with dogs who are compatible in terms of behaviour, temperament and breed; we also provide ongoing support to owners with regards to training and care.
The canine carers who care for, asses, train and rehome dogs are supported by unpaid volunteers who help walk the dogs on a day to day basis, as well as hosting events and helping with various tasks around the rescue. With over 350 dogs in their care every year, they rely solely on donations and sponsorship to continue their work and take in more dogs in need.
We need your help so we can continue to offer and even expand our service!
